Mission: "The generation, development, integration and communication of knowledge in all areas of knowledge and domains of culture constitute the mission and the foundation of the activities of the University, shape the complexity of its work and guide the education it provides". "The University assumes with a vocation of excellence the formation of people and the contribution to the spiritual and material development of the Nation. It fulfills its mission through the functions of teaching, research and creation in the sciences and technologies, the humanities and the arts, and the extension of knowledge and culture in all its breadth. It seeks to perform these functions with the highest level of exigency". "It is the responsibility of the University to contribute to the development of the national cultural heritage and identity and to the improvement of the country's educational system.

Vision: The Vision of the Future points out the matrix ideas that guide the formulation of this IDP and will guide the activities of our University in the next decade. It is framed within the mission and values of the university and its historical tradition, and responds to the challenges arising from the transformations that both globally and locally have occurred and will continue to occur in society, knowledge, technology, culture and the environment. In a synthetic way it can be expressed as follows: In the next decade we see an effectively national and state university, with high levels of quality, pluralism, social and gender equity and relevance to address with social awareness, critically and in an ethically responsible manner, the challenges in the areas of higher education, research, creation, extension and links with the environment, at the service of the country, with a vocation to integrate the state education system and to play a leading role in Latin American and international university networks, particularly with public universities.
