Mission: The mission of the University of Los Lagos is to train professionals and technicians with solid knowledge, pluralistic and committed to their environment. Likewise, the university develops basic and applied scientific research in those areas that it has defined as strategic and has competitive advantages. It is a regional university that seeks to make a significant contribution to its environment through the dissemination of arts, culture and scientific knowledge generated.
Vision: The Universidad de Los Lagos is an institution committed to the permanent search for quality in its academic, administrative and financial processes. It is an institution valued at a regional and national level for the quality of the technical and professional training it offers and for its permanent and substantive contribution to culture and scientific/technological development in its strategic areas. It is also committed to offering relevant, quality postgraduate courses that are linked to scientific research, thus advancing internationalization.

The following data gives a quick reading on the scientific performance in the last years. The research ranking refers to the volume, impact and quality of the institution's research output. The innovation ranking is calculated on the number of patent applications of the institution and the citations that its research output receives from patents. Finally, the societal ranking is based on the number of pages of the institution's website and the number of backlinks and mentions from social networks.
