Mission: The mission of the University of Lleida is to provide the public service, which has been entrusted to it by society, to contribute to the creation, conservation and transmission of knowledge. These functions make up its main activities: teaching, research and knowledge transfer. In order to fulfil this mission, the University of Lleida receives resources from society and assumes responsibility for managing them for the benefit of society (art. 2 of the University of Lleida's Statutes). The Generalitat of Catalonia has approved and published Law 19/2014, of 29 December, on transparency, access to information and good governance, and in accordance with its articles, all public administrations have an obligation to create the "Transparency and Good Governance Portal". Transparency is not only about providing information, but is a tool for improving management, while at the same time being accountable to society. Although the website of the University of Lleida contains abundant information about its activities, it is necessary that this information is easily accessible and understandable to all interested people, whether they are part of the university community or not.

The following data gives a quick reading on the scientific performance in the last years. The research ranking refers to the volume, impact and quality of the institution's research output. The innovation ranking is calculated on the number of patent applications of the institution and the citations that its research output receives from patents. Finally, the societal ranking is based on the number of pages of the institution's website and the number of backlinks and mentions from social networks.
