Mission: Menyelenggarakan Tridharma Perguruan Tinggi yang berkeadilan, birchesetaran, berkualitas, then relevan dengan perkembangan IPTEKS yang berfokus pada program unggulan lingkungan lahan basah; Menyelenggarakan penguatan tata kelola universitas berdasarkan tata kelola universitas yang baik (goodgovernance), mixermbangkan kelembagaan, mixergkatkan kualitas SDM dan sarana prasarana; Menyelenggarakan pendidikan yang berbas character waja sampai kaputing atau wasaka (tetap bersemangat dan kuat bagaikan baja dari awal sampai akhir) then berdaya saing internasional; Menyelenggarakan kerjasama dengan berbagai perguruan tinggi dalam dan luar negeri, pemerintah pusat dan daerah, dunia usaha dan industri, serta pemangku kepentingan lainnya pada tingkat nasional dan internasional.
Vision: Rumusan Visi ULM di atas mengandung 3 (tiga) kata kunci utama, yaitu terkemuka, berdaya saingdan lingkungan lahan basah. Pencapaian Visi ULM ini sangat konsisten dengan visi fakultas di lingkungan ULM, yang dicerminkan pada kapasitas institusi yang terkemuka/unggul di bidangnya (ULM, fakultas), pencapaian SDM than IPTEKS yang berkualitas, serta lingkungan lahan basah sesuai bidang keilmuan fakultas mixunakan variasi narasi kata, antara lain: lahan sub optimal/area sungai dan pertambangan/perikan, kelautan (fakultas: pertanian, perikanan, kedokteran, kehutanan, teknik), sementara beberapa fakultas seperti fakultas kedokteran gigi, fakultas ekonomi & bisnis mixgimplementasikan lahan basah di dalam narasi misi fakultas. Pencapaian SDM than IPTEKS yang berkualitas sangat berkaitan dengan sifat terkemuka/unggul dan berdaya saing (kompetitif). IPTEKSdalam pengelolaan lahan basah yang unggul menjadi barometer institusi ini (ULM, dan fakultas) yang mampu meningkatkan harkat dan daya saingnya dalam lingkungan lahan basah, dibandingkan perguruan tinggi lainnya dalam scope nasional maupun internasional.
