Mission: The Universidad Autónoma de San Luis Potosí is a public institution whose duty is to train -under a model of social responsibility- high school graduates and professionals; scientists, humanists and academics; with an informed and global vision of the world, entrepreneurs, ethical and competent in the knowledge society. In addition, to generate, apply, promote and disseminate knowledge and culture, to contribute to a solid university education and the advancement of sciences, arts, humanities and technologies. In this way, it contributes with an ethical sense to the development of a cohesive, democratic, multicultural and knowledge-based society; as well as to the solution of global problems, the social development of the country, in particular of the state of San Luis Potosi, and to preserve and spread our values and the culture of the state, at the local, regional and national levels.
Vision: The Autonomous University of San Luis Potosi is widely recognized in 2023 as an institution of the highest quality, socially responsible, open, inclusive, integrated and linked in a solid way with its environment; promoter of the free discussion of ideas, without relations of ideological dependence or partisan politics, and its high degree of governance; as a pole of local, regional, national and international reference; for the solid formation of high school graduates, professionals and citizens aware of their social responsibility; for their contributions to the development of knowledge, humanities, culture, technology and innovation; and for their timely contributions with the highest standards of quality to the improvement of the human development of the Potosi society and the country.

The following data gives a quick reading on the scientific performance in the last years. The research ranking refers to the volume, impact and quality of the institution's research output.
