Foundation: 1965
Mission: The mission of the University of Zielona Góra is to promote equal opportunities for the development of the region and its inhabitants and to increase the intellectual, economic and artistic potential by educating high-quality professional staff and conducting advanced research. The University aims to educate highly qualified specialists indispensable for the region, Poland and the united Europe.
Vision: As a full-fledged university, UZ intends to expand the scope of fields in which it can confer doctoral and post-doctoral degrees. All basic organizational units of the University are expected to be granted the highest research categories. The academic staff plans to conduct high standard academic and research work and participate actively in the European Research Space and the European System of Higher Education. To a large extent the work will be financed from state and EU academic and research grants. The University of Zielona Góra hopes to initiate and support the cooperation with public institutions and business.

The following data gives a quick reading on the scientific performance in the last years. The research ranking refers to the volume, impact and quality of the institution's research output. The innovation ranking is calculated on the number of patent applications of the institution and the citations that its research output receives from patents. Finally, the societal ranking is based on the number of pages of the institution's website and the number of backlinks and mentions from social networks.
The result of the evaluation of the institution can be compared to obtain a view of the country, the region to which it belongs and the institutions of the world, placing it in their respective positions.
